Founder and Special Advisor
Zoe Wong
Zoe has been brought up in an atmosphere of love and encouragement and is learning the importance of giving to others by the example set by her parents. Her family’s motto is: “Always share your blessings with others whenever possible. Love the people around you, and help the people who need you.” For her birthdays, Zoe requests the gift of flowers for the elderly rather than a gift for herself.
Zoe’s interests include art, music, singing, acting, drama, dance, taekwondo, playing piano, chess, and exploring new ideas and experiences. Visiting the Children’s Museum of Houston and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, as well as attending family concerts at the Houston Symphony, are also activities Zoe enjoys.
Zoe’s love of chess inspired her to create, with her mother, Girl Chess Power and Beyond, a nonprofit organization that gives girls more opportunities to play chess. Zoe understands that the strategic thinking and knowledge she gains from chess can help everyone in their daily lives, and she wants to give that benefit to other girls so they can be better prepared for the future. She also thinks chess is a lot of fun and wants to share that fun with others. Zoe is the founder and special advisor, and her mother is the president of the executive board of directors.
Zoe loves family time and being with her friends. She also likes volunteering with her mother at Kids’ Meals and Today’s Harbor for Children, two wonderful charities that are effectively helping many. In 2025, she accumulated all the volunteer hours necessary to receive The President’s Volunteer Service Award.
A lover of books and stories, Zoe has written three picture books: Kindness, with her mother; Giving; and Perseverance, Cleverness, and Fearlessness. She just published her first chapter book, which is called The Mystery of the Multiplying Dyno-Mytes. Her aim is to use the proceeds from the books to help Girl Chess Power and Beyond.
Zoe also likes participating in writing competitions. In May 2021, she entered the Scholastic, From Fear to Hope, contest and was one of the five winners. In 2024, she was a winner in the iWRITE writing competition for her short story submission, Escape the Dragon.
In 2019, when she was only five years old, Asians Against Domestic Abuse (AADA) selected Zoe as their Rising Star Honoree. In February 2023, Zoe and Elly were honored as Junior Stars at Ars Lyrica Houston’s Gems, Charms, and Treasures Gala. Along with their mother, who was also honored, they received congressional recognitions from the United States Congress, a Proclamation of CKW (Caring, Kindness, Wisdom) Multigenerational Philanthropy Day from the City of Sugar Land, and certificates of appreciation from the City of Houston and Ars Lyrica Houston.
Zoe’s cause is to shower the elderly and children with love, hope, and respect.
